A vehicle that was shown to the world in 1996, that is one of the best-handling production roadsters you can find anywhere, is the Porsche Boxster. This has been essentially unchanged since the beginning, with only adjustments to the interior-options, and some moderate horsepower changes, but the Boxster is still a fast, powerful car. With its popular designs, Porsche usually maintains the same appearance for an extended period of time.
Throughout 2005, there was the introduction of a second-generation Boxster that was more powerful, but stayed with Porsche’s usual conservative evolutionary path. It looks like a Porsche Spyder, yet just like its predecessor, this is a two-seater, with a mid-engine and six cylinders. The construction and electronics of the latest Boxster remain over 50% borrowed from the 911 Carrera. The torque modification and additional horsepower give the 2005 more muscle than its 2004 equivalent. The 2005 Boxster S seemed to be almost comparable to the expensive Porsche 911 Carrera in acceleration and top-speed performance.
No other car can equal the particular sound resembling a trombone that is emanated with the Boxster’s exhaust. Since the engine is a scaled-down version of the six-cylinder that can be found in the Carrera, that makes this an amazing thing. A five-speed manual transmission has become standard with the Boxster but may be upgraded to a six-speed if you wish. It may be fitted with the Porsche-designed automatic transmission, the five-speed Tiptronic, which is superb. This can be a consequence of an upcoming trend in which the driver can manually shift an automatic vehicle. While the Boxster is known as a top quality vehicle inside and out, it is certainly not a luxurious car.
The previous car seemed to be criticized for its cheap look, but the interior is upgraded some since then. Offering an updated gearshift and synthetic titanium paneling, the center console is much improved. The latest Boxster has improved seating with better quality body shape and support. With two trunks, one in the back of the car and a larger one underneath the front hood, transporting baggage is a non-issue. The Boxster comes with a nice function in its powered convertible top which has the capability to rapidly open and shut at speeds close to 30 mph. The roof is weather-tight, and noiseless with triple-layer sound absorbing cloth tops, and the rear window is heated-glass.
Known as a mid-engine car, the Boxster’s six-cylinder engine will be found to the rear of the seats before you get to the rear axle. You are unable to search under the hood to find it, because you won’t find it there. If you need to look at the engine, you will have to look from underneath. A far more even weight distribution is a welcome benefit of the car’s engine being located near the center of the car. This is the reason the Porshe Boxster controls so incredibly well.
